‘Bloomerang Purpink’ Lilac

Syringa × pubescens 'SMNSPTP' PP35,123, CPBRAF

‘Bloomerang Purpink’ is a compact, reblooming deciduous lilac shrub that offers an extended season of heavily fragrant flowers. Unlike traditional lilacs, it has a primary, heavy bloom in late spring and then reblooms from mid-summer until the first frost. The flowers themselves have a unique coloration that can appear purple, pink, or a mix of both, depending on the moment, leading to its name. This cultivar forms a dense, rounded, and bushy shape with small, mildew-resistant green leaves. Its reliable, disease-resistant nature and ability to bloom on both old and new wood make it a versatile and low-maintenance choice for foundation plantings, borders, or containers.

Notes

Pruning: A light trim after the spring bloom is recommended to shape the plant and encourage a more abundant rebloom, though it may delay the rebloom slightly. Pruning after mid-summer is not recommended as it will cut off new growth that produces later flowers.

Maintenance: Highly resistant to powdery mildew, a common issue for many older lilac varieties. Provide good air circulation and full sun to ensure best performance.

Habitat: Highly tolerant of urban conditions.

Other: The flowers have a classic, sweet lilac fragrance and are excellent for use as cut flowers.
